Planning

Provide separate air openings protected from soil, vegetation and water. The secondary exit leads independently outside and opens from within. An outside contact knows the location, occupancy and expected end time.

Inspection

Test airflow, CO₂ monitor, smoke alarm, emergency light and both exits before occupancy. Never lock people in. Unknown odours, headache, dizziness, alarm or a blocked exit require immediate evacuation.

Operation and maintenance

Inspect openings, sensors, batteries and routes frequently. Cooking, heating and charging large batteries takes place in a separate safe outside area.
